Two more days until our official ribbon cutting and grand opening. We’re working on the last minute details and putting the finishing touches on everything. We’ve been keeping a little secret over here at Geek Central and it’s time we shared it with all of you!
There’s a new neighbor moving in next door to our office in downtown Lakeville.
The Bonus Room is approximately one-thousand square feet of versatile rental space. It’s the extra space you need if you’re hosting a meeting or event. It will be able to accommodate everything from wedding showers to weekend boutiques… book club meetings to business off-site retreats… custom classes to community get-togethers.
The space is still under construction but will be opening its doors in early to mid February. For those of you familiar with downtown Lakeville, it’s in the space vacated by Watch Me Draw. The contractors are still working hard: moving walls, painting, outfitting a full kitchen, and installing brand new carpeting. We’re enjoying watching the changes take place and can’t wait for everyone to see it.
When finished, the space will be decked out in a gorgeous, monochromatic neutral color scheme… the perfect backdrop for any event. Stay tuned to their website and Facebook page to get the latest news. We’ll be sure to let you know when the space is finished so you can pop in and see it for yourself.
By the way, rumor has it the grand opening will coincide with our ribbon cutting on February 15th. Mark your calendar now so you can be one of the first to set your eyes on the new space. The booking calendar should be up soon, ready to accommodate your events!
Downtown Lakeville is getting a face lift!
Construction has been in full swing for the past several weeks. Yes, we’ve had to navigate metal barricades and dodge a construction vehicle or two, but the end result is going to be absolutely worth it. The city has a whole webpage dedicated to the project where you can see the concept drawings and keep up to date on the progress. Click here for access.
Our new office space on Holyoke Avenue provides a great vantage point to watch all of the changes taking place. We’ve been privy to some of the construction updates and wanted to pass along the news.
The work on the west side of the street is almost complete. Crews will be wrapping up projects throughout the next week. Soon we’ll be able to park on the west side of the street again! The orange fencing will remain for a little longer until the gorgeous new planters are installed in late October or early November.
As for the east side where our office is located, they’ve started ripping up the sidewalk and removing the light posts. That work should be done next week. Then they’ll begin repairing the storm sewers, installing fresh soil and tree grates for new trees, and eventually pouring the sidewalks.
We hope you get a chance to head downtown and check the progress for yourself. Businesses are still open while the work continues. Please consider making the trek and supporting our local friends and neighbors. We’re excited for the changes to be complete and are looking forward to being a part of this next era in downtown Lakeville!
August is coming to a close and with it, our Dog Days of Summer! To wrap up, we wanted to highlight some pup-friendly places around town where you can squeeze in the final bits of fun before summer comes to an end. Some are well suited for the whole family, some are geared more toward the over 21 crowd, but they all have one thing in common… they welcome your furry, four-legged family members as well.
Several businesses right here in downtown Lakeville are downright dog friendly. Need a gallon of paint or a box of nails? Bring Fido along. Ace Hardware rewards canine shoppers with specially-stocked treats.
Got a craving for those Reuben Nachos but feel guilty because Spot has been in his crate all day? Lakeville Brewing Company welcomes dogs to their fenced outdoor area and even provides water bowls.
Get your steps in by taking Buddy for a walk then stop in for some refreshments on the patio of Angry Inch Brewing. You never know what deliciousness they’ll have on tap and your pup is welcome to chill out while you sip your local craft brew.
Right next door, Heavy Metal Grill welcomes dogs on their patio as well. If you go on a Wednesday you can grab a bite to eat and stick around to watch the bikes cruise by for their weekly Bike Night.
Mainstreet Coffee and Wine Bar has you and Max covered day or night. Whether you’re sipping your morning latte or meeting friends to indulge in an after-hours Cabernet, their large patio is pet and people friendly.

We’ve been busy, busy, busy—up to our rose-colored glasses with secret projects—and it’s time to share the news. The Property Geeks are moving on up to downtown Lakeville!
We’ve been searching for new digs for months. We’re experienced in helping our friends and clients find the perfect home, cabin or investment property. But, securing a space for our team to call home seemed like a never-ending quest.
We considered many of the south metro suburbs. There are so many attractive options in the Twin Cities. But then we thought about it. We’re licensed in Minnesota and Wisconsin and have listed and sold homes all over the Twin Cities metro area and beyond… Lakeville holds a special place in our hearts. Everyone on our team lives within a few miles. Our kids attend Lakeville public schools. Many of us grew up around the area and love it so much we’ve never left.
Finally, after weeks of searching, the stars aligned and we signed a lease on a gorgeous space. Now, the flooring has been installed, the paint has dried on the walls, the furniture is being delivered, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to be moving into Downtown Lakeville.
Lakeville is a thriving community and the businesses in the downtown area have big plans to make it even more of a destination location. From tasty treats to custom brews to a wide variety of professional services, the downtown area is a one-stop shop for just about anything a resident might need. With all of the year-round events, the farmer’s market, and the sensational summer plans, we’re excited to join the fantastic group of businesses that call Holyoke Avenue home.
